The World Travel Book

While having a gallery on DeviantArt (a website where artists are able to share their work with the world) I have had many sweet comments and suggestions, and perhaps even a commission request or two... but this past year I received a very interesting request from a sweet 17-year-old artist from Germany. She contacted me and explained how much she enjoyed my work and asked if I was interested in participating in a book that she has started that is traveling the world from artist to artist, each contributing their own little bits of work before sending it on it's way to the next recipient. Her name is Eva and is an artist herself, as well as aspiring bookbinder (how neat!). Of course I was extremely flattered and told her I would be honored to be a part of this amazing project. The book arrived today, and was wrapped so beautifully I had to photograph it and share it with you! I've also included a few entries from the book, as it was such fun going through and reading each artist's entry.

Unwrapping the book was an experience in itself.  The amount of care and attention to detail that has gone into this book is just simply fantastic. It was a very emotional experience. :)

I can't wait to start my entries, yet I'm pretty nervous. :) I have two weeks... wish me luck! I'll update when my entries are complete. <3

Jewelry Update for Omnia Studios

Hey guys! We are super busy trying to come up with new jewelry designs while still trying to keep the store stocked up on all the current jewelry. We have gotten a lot of questions concerning handmade jewelry rings, let us asure you we are working with the idea and trying to take our current method for the bangles and bringing it to a much smaller scale.  We will be letting everyone know as soon as we do successfully achieve making the resin jewelry rings. Some other things that are going on here at Omnia are the silver jewelry that we are still in the early stages of creation.  This has been a fun project to play with.  Our vision with the silver jewelry is to create rings, necklaces and earrings with found objects from our own excursions.  We have already collected some neat furnace glass from New England, amethyst and quartz crystals from South Carolina, fossils from Pennsylvania, and Native American artifacts found on private land in South Carolina.  These jewelry pieces will all be one of a kind, hand made art jewelry that focuses on bringing out the beauty and uniqueness of each individual object within the piece of jewelry.

Another neat thing that will be coming is the addition of lumen print photography.  Lumen prints are made when items are placed on photographic paper outside in the sun. This overexposes the paper to UV light, which causes the image to appear. The photograph is then set in photographic fixer.

The participation was phenomenal and the ideas were super creative.  We had a blast reading and picking the winners! The two winning suggestions were a ouija board and goldfish.  They may not seem like much now but they will turn into really great bangle designs!

What we are and will be up to.

So, many people have been inquiring about our resin bangles and our other goodies for sale. We just want everyone to know that we are taking a bit of a hiatus from selling while the weather is chilly to catch up on updating our website and straightening our studio space. Fret not, though! For although we won't have much to sell at the moment good things are coming. AND we'll be giving away bunches of stuff on our FB page so be sure to go like it. :)

OHHH and I found a website that sells custom printed fabric. Screw bikinis I might just go all outttt. WHO WANTS SOME CRAZY ASS LOOKING LEGGINGSSSS????

New projects coming up!!!

So, I was recently invited to participate in a traveling art book. NEAT! It's roaming the world right now so it should take it's time getting to my little mailbox but I'll keep everyone updated. The project can be viewed here. How flattering is that?! There will be two versions that I am going to participate in, a general book and a steampunk themed one. I'm super excited and will keep everyone updated once the books arrive and I begin the process of filling them with my artistic nonsense. AAANNNDDD in preparation for this world traveling art book I have vowed to complete AT THE VERY LEAST one doodle/drawing/sketch per day. I will post here or on our facebook page. So yeah. Hit me up with your ideas. I need inspiration. :)

BIKINI TIME IS NEAR! Do you have the most kickass swimsuit on the beach?

So how about some awesome custom Omnia Studios swimwear?! We are considering creating a limited quantity of your favorite designs onto swimwear just in time for summer, but we need some input! What artwork/photographs/designs are your favorites? What size do you wear? What styles of swimwear (bikini, monokini, one peice, swim trunks, coverups) do you like? Let us know! My time with those crazy pointing pups

Many of you probably don't know but I have been training pointing dogs now for nine years. They have also been quite the subject matter in a lot of my photographs. I have decided to begin writing about my adventures with these wonderful animals. So as of now I will be posting regularly about my experiences. Until then, enjoy these photos.

Fun side project

So guys, I finally got my 90 gal aquarium up here from Aiken. We have decided to start with a saltwater reef setup. This is all new to us so we will be posting along the way and welcome any insight from anyone who can lend some. Currently we have just the salt water circulating and have live rock on the way!

Updates to the studio.

It's been a chilly winter season so we have taken a hiatus from creating goodies and have spent the majority of it inside reorganizing and improving the studio space. Once the weather warms up we should be back on the kiln pumping out crazy clay awesomeness and we hope to clear out some additional space for a darkroom. Here are some shots of the bar we added! (Because why the hell not?)

Nathan already had the awesome 50's mahogany bar, so I bought him the mid-century swag lamp to go along with it.

I'm also nearly done painting the tentacle lady on the half wall adjacent to the bar. Looking for some decent barstools to match. Any suggestions?

Stuff for sale.

We are cleaning out our space so buy our stuff! We'll be posting some things here, and some on our goodsmiths store. SPEAKING OF WHICH I don't think we've even announced our Goodsmiths store! So yes, in our rebellion against the evil demon Etsy, we are selling our jewelry and such at Omnia Studios on Goodsmiths.com. Such a great atmosphere and fair commission percentages. That being said, the store section will be coming down on our main page. All sales will be directed through Goodsmiths.com. Now on to the stuff we are getting rid of!

Fiber optic Lady de Guadalupe. $35. She is huge, gorgeous, and works great! Ornate gilded frame, looks awesome hanging on the wall.

Jazzin' up the space!

Hopefully I'll have this finished soon. Mural underneath our bar. I'm searching for some 19th c piano stools with claw feet to go with the bar as well. If anyone finds any in decent condition (working condition) let us know! We've grabbed one but need another. Find us one to match this!

We also wanna do some kind of mural over the entrance way into our "parlor". :) Any ideas?
